Sorry folks, ingen säsong 2 så långt ögat kan nå. Kevin Williamson har sagt följande: 'The show's gone, people. It's gone.' och som om det inte var nog så meddelade Warner Bros igår att The Secret Circle inte heller kommer att släppas på DVD! Jag som hade sett fram emot att få se bloopers och en massa deleted scenes, men det kommer vi alltså INTE att få se.

When The CW announced its Fall 2012 schedule, many fans thought that there was one glaring omission: "The Secret Circle" was not picked up for a second season. Though it was, on average, the highest-rated freshman series on The CW this season, the ratings decline in the second half of the season was its downfall. It also didn't help that with tons of special effects and dramatic locations, "The Secret Circle" is an expensive show to produce -- especially in comparison to, say, "Hart of Dixie."

The cancellation didn't stop "Secret Circle" fans from rallying behind the show, though. Plenty of "Save the Secret Circle" Twitter campaigns popped up, as well as petitions, and CW President Mark Pedowitz was inundated with emails.

Unfortunately, sources confirm to Zap2it that Warner Bros will not be looking to find a new home for the Circle. Though initially there were some conversations about pitching the series to ABC Family, those conversations have ended -- again, because of budgetary concerns and an already full development slate at ABC Family.

"I had to ignore Twitter for a couple weeks, because I didn't know what to say to all the fans. It's like, 'Sorry?" series star Britt Robertson tells us. She shoots down rumors of the show airing on other networks. "No, no way. It's not happening. I saw [executive producer] Kevin Williamson recently did an interview and he was like, 'The show's gone, people. It's gone.'"

That's not to say that fan efforts weren't appreciated. The cast and creators, who remain close, were touched by your enthusiasm -- the video below particularly touched Phoebe Tonkin and showrunner Andrew Miller -- and look forward to fans hopefully keeping up with their future endeavors. Season 1 DVDs are expected to hit shelves this fall.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. tells Zap2it there will be no "Secret Circle" DVD after all. (The episodes are still on iTunes, though.)

I was a good student, but I was the biggest procrastinator. I was the fastest typist in my school, and I had an obsession with spelling and memorizing. I was the happiest in English class, and algebra was where I cried.

I worked at a local country club that I never belonged to. I did random tasks in the pro shop and supposed to be in charge of the register, but that didn’t go so well. They quickly realized I was better with people, not computers.

I went to a party that I wasn’t supposed to be at, and the minute I saw the guy I had the biggest crush on, the cops came. I got nervous and tripped over a tree trunk. He definitely noticed me, but not in the way I wanted!

What was your style like when you were 17, and how does it compare to your style now?
When I was 17, my style was beginning to change. I had gone to New York and Los Angeles for the first time that year and I realized I wasn’t as cool as I thought I was. So, I’d try and bring back trends from the bigger cities to New Orleans, but now, looking back at the photos, I still wasn’t cool. Let’s just say I took risks. But I did have the best prom dress!

My hobby was dance. I danced more hours than I went to school. It’s when I was the happiest. I went to a dance school called Dance Unlimited and it was my second home.

Did you have to deal with any nasty rumors when you were in high school?
After I was crowned Teen USA, guys I had “supposedly” made out with came out of the woodwork!

Did you have any nicknames growing up?
People called me Slim and Daddy Long Legs. My best friend Martine named me Daddy Long Legs after she saw me running track. She was making fun of me!

Who was your best friend when you were 17?
My best friend was Martine Duhe. “Martin” is what I called her. She’s still my best friend! In fact, I’m texting her right this very second to help me answer these questions because she knows me better than anyone.

I remember a lot of nonverbal support. It was understood that they trusted my instincts, but also showed me the way. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, that’s for sure.

Om så är fallet, så kan det tänkas att vi faktiskt kan få en säsong 2. Men just nu är inget klart, men vi håller er givetvis uppdaterade om läget.

We've been drowning in comfort food and magical potions ever since news broke that The Secret Circle had been cancelled, but could there be a light at the end of this Chris Zylka-less tunnel?

A Zap2it reporter recently tweeted that TSC could be adopted by another network, saying "In the 'tiny shred of hope' department, there's a possibility that they'll look into other options (ABC Family, etc)."

ABC Family is a strong contender for a TSC pick-up (they love themselves some fantasy), but fans hope MTV and Netflix are also viable options. Netflix has expressed interest in picking up CBS's Jericho, and might be in the market for more "cult favorites," while MTV fans say TSC would pair perfectly with Teen Wolf. In fact, fans have started a Make-a-Wish to Save-a-Witch campaign, which has two aims: donating $20,000 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation and getting the attention of MTV, in th the hopes that the network will pick up the show. Talk about two great causes!

There isn't any definite news yet, but we can take comfort in the fact that Cougar Town was just picked up by TBS — these things do happen!

Vi har ännu inte fått någon riktig förklaring på varför The CW valde att lägga ner The Secret Circle. De anledningar som det spekuleras om är att den tappade tittare från The Vampire Diaries (The CW hade väl trott att de som tittar på The Vampire Diaries även skulle titta på The Secret Circle), plus att den tappade tittare ju längre säsongen pågick (inte heller så konstigt, med tanke på att de tog så många uppehåll).

Igår hade The CW sitt upfront party, där olyckligtsvis ingen från TSC var inbjudna och inte heller har någon från The CW kommenterat på beslutet om att lägga ner The Secret Circle.

Usually at a network upfront, it’s a case of good news and bad news — however, when it comes to “The Secret Circle” Thursday there was almost no news at all. The CW upfront was spent talking about the network’s successes and failures, but somehow during the midst of all of it the show managed to never really come up. It’s an obvious omission of many interviews with network head Mark Pedowitz, especially when the failure of “Ringer” to sustain an audience was addressed early and often.

 

So why was there no real explanation on the “Circle” front? It’s possible that executives felt that the explanation speaks for itself — the show was routinely losing half of its “Vampire Diaries” lead-in, even though if you look at season averages it was still in the top five for the network. It’s obvious that The CW does want to use the 9:00 p.m. Eastern timeslot as a launching pad for a new show, and the general consensus up top must have been that the show would not sustain the audience it did have were it to move to another night or time. Do we think the network would have been better off putting it on Fridays instead of “America’s Next Top Model”? Based on the fact that it would be airing alongside another genre show in “Nikita,” definitely — but The CW made a mistake in renewing “Top Model” too early in the year, and it left the “Circle” in the cold.

 

Nonetheless, fan campaigns are still ongoing to save the “Circle” by bringing the show else. If you head on over to the Save the Circle fansite, there are some great suggestions as to what you can do to get involved — including sending letters in to some other networks (including MTV and ABC Family) that could be interested in picking up the show. In addition, there are campaigns involving buying the episodes on iTunes and Amazon in order to prove that a large consumer base is there. Will any of this word? It’s hard to say — while it’s easy to be cynical, you have to respect passion — and “Cougar Town” did end up getting picked up by another network in TBS when it was obvious that ABC was going to cancel it.

Tyvärr så är det 100% säkert att det inte blir någon säsong 2, på kanalen The CW i USA.

Däremot så kan det ju tänkas att någon annan kanal kan köpa serien och fortsätta, men jag skulle säga att det nog inte är så troligt. Men hoppas kan man ju alltid.

Så förvänta er INTE att få se någon säsong 2.

Playboy.com har intervjuat Shelley om allt från hennes tidigare karriär som Miss Teen USA till hennes skådespelar karriär.

For most audiences, this week’s woman to watch won you over years ago as the crowned victor of both Miss Louisiana Teen USA and Miss Teen USA. Since then, this Destrehan, LA native has gone from attending the ultra-prestigious New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts to landing the role of Stephanie Johnson on one of the world’s lon gest-running television shows, Days of Our Lives, where she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as an Outstanding Younger Actress.

 

Currently finishing up her first season on CW’s cult supernatural show The Secret Circle, Shelley Hennig stars as Diana Meade, a young witch discovering the limits of her powers alongside her coven circle while the world outside becomes increasingly hell-bent on destroying them.

 

Shelley took a break from practicing for her first improv comedy show to speak with us about her new show, the challenges of wearing a crown and how to cause a ruckus at Guantanamo Bay.

 

Playboy.com: You were crowned Miss Teen USA back in 2004. What was the hardest part about being a contestant?

Hennig: I didn’t know that a lot of preparation was supposed to go into getting ready for the pageant. I found a dress for $90 at David’s Bridal, did my own hair and makeup. But I guess the hardest part for me was that I can be pretty candid. It was realizing this was a world that was fairly censored. I remember a lot of the girls were very professional, almost too old…I was like, “Guys, we’re teenagers. We can be teenagers!” [laughs] I was like, “I don’t know what this is about, but I’m going to dive in and do something bigger than myself and maybe get a scholarship somewhere.” I think that’s what helped me in the end, that I wasn’t prepared and was candid, and was a teenager. I think that’s why I won.

Playboy.com: As part of your tour you visited Guantanamo Bay. What was that like?

Hennig: It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever done. We got a briefing before we went to the North Gate, which is where the Cuban soldiers and American soldiers stand on guard 24/7, every day of the year. They were taking us there, and they said, “The only thing you can’t do is point. Whatever you do, don’t point.” Things were good at the time but they didn’t want to take any chances. So the first thing I do when I get there is yell out, “I don’t see any Cubans! Oh wait, is that them?” and I pointed. Three American army guys come over and put my arm down – it was like a movie moment in slow motion. I was so embarrassed! It was the one thing they asked me not to do.

 

We saw the prison camps, and it was also the time when they were concerned that the U.S. wasn’t treating the soldiers correctly, and all the senators were coming in to take a look. It was a crazy moment in history that I got to be a part of. The best part about it was that I got to run six or seven miles with the marines. I kept up and I got to pass the flag, it was awesome.

Playboy.com: What was it like transitioning from pageants to acting?

Hennig: From Teen USA I got a scholarship to the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, which was my initial plan in entering Miss Teen Louisiana, to get a scholarship somewhere and make it easier on my family and myself. Granted, I had never acted a day in my life. [laughs] I started off very open-minded, and I loved it the first day…but I sucked. I was just not getting it, so I spent two years just busting my little butt, living the acting world.

Playboy.com: Was New York a culture shock for you after Louisiana?

Hennig: I believe I just adapted and didn’t think twice. I think my favorite memory was my first night, at 10 o’clock I decided I wanted groceries and found a place about twenty minutes away. I bought all these groceries because I was told they had something like home delivery. So I paid for it all and then what do I do about this delivery service, and they were like, “Sorry, ma’am, that ended at 7 P.M.” So I walked all the way back with all these groceries because I couldn’t find a cab. [laughs]

Playboy.com: You’re known for being “the innocent one” in The Secret Circle. With recent revelations that you have dark magic, are we going to see you head down that path?

Hennig: I think it’s inevitable, it’s in my blood. I think it’s inevitable that Diana will have to use dark magic to get them out of a situation, and initially Diana doesn’t want anything to do with it. But she might be put in a situation where she has to use it, and who knows, she might like it.

Playboy.com: Have you played an evil character before, or would this be a first for you?

Hennig: I played a bitch on Days of Our Lives when I first started. There definitely was some evil in Stephanie, and while it wasn’t a supernatural evil show, Stephanie is the opposite of Diana: she wasn’t good to begin with.

Playboy.com: If you could have a supernatural power like Diana, what would it be and why?

Hennig: To travel back in time, to see people that are no longer here; I have so many childhood memories that I’d want to revisit. I asked Britt (Robertson) when we were shooting an episode, “If you could travel into the past or future, which would you do?” She said future, and I said past. I’m not one who lives in the past, but I’m definitely a sentimental person so I’d love to go back to the good old days.

Playboy.com: What music will get you on the dance floor?

Hennig: [Laughs] I like rap, hip-hop, country, techno…wait, maybe not techno anymore. I don’t even think techno is a current term… [laughs] I’m a dancer so any music can get me out on the dance floor. Jay-Z is what I’m listening to these days.

Playboy.com: So acting, dancing…should we expect singing next?

Hennig: I definitely have gotten better at singing. With a bit of training I can pull it off, but I would not say singing will ever be my number one talent.

 

Playboy.com: Be it in the shower, car, or all alone. What are you singing? Do you have a guilty pleasure song?

Hennig: I’m singing Amy Winehouse’s cover, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” from her (Lioness:) Hidden Treasures album. The whole way I was driving back from Vancouver, I was listening to the country station on Sirius and memorized pretty much every country song that is out right now…and anything Miranda Lambert.

Playboy.com: What was your first Playboy?

Hennig: I was in Fred Segal for the first time and there was a coffee table book, as big as your coffee table, of every cover of Playboy Magazine since it started, and it was autographed by Hugh Hefner. So I bought it for my brother as a birthday present.

Playboy.com:You are a good sister!

Hennig: I know, I know. But I couldn’t pass it up for him; he has it proudly in his living room. [laughs]

Is a fan led campaign that was started in April of 2012 to encourage a season 2 renewal of The Secret Circle on The CW Network. TSC aired on The CW from September 15th, 2011 to May 10th, 2012 and was officially canceled on May 11th, 2012.

 

Upon news of TSC’s cancellation, Save The Circle quickly switched gears and became a campaign aimed at bringing the freshman series back to television. Through petitions, mailing campaigns, a fan-image gallery, and various other “missions,” Save The Circle seeks to prove there is still a strong following for the series, a solid demo market for advertisers, and a place for it on either network or cable television.
